How to find WhatsApp messages, photos and files with ChatGPT

Ask ChatGPT for a price, a date, an address, or the photo or PDF someone sent on WhatsApp, and get the message back with who sent it and when.

The problem

WhatsApp search only works if you remember the exact word someone used. It cannot answer a question like what price a supplier quoted, and it does not look inside the PDFs and photos people send. So you end up scrolling through months of chat, or opening file after file in the media tab. WhatSync connects your WhatsApp to ChatGPT, so you can ask in your own words and get the message, photo or file back, with who sent it and when.

Questions to copy into ChatGPT

Ask the way you would ask a colleague. You do not need the exact words from the message.

“What price did Ahmed quote for the steel?”

“Find the message with the bank details for the deposit.”

“When did we agree to start the second phase?”

“Show the photos and PDFs shared in the Villa group this week.”

“What is the total on the last invoice from the supplier?”

Set it up

It takes about 5 minutes. Your WhatsApp keeps working on your phone as normal.

  1. Connect WhatsApp with a QR code. Sign in to your WhatSync dashboard and click Show QR code. On your phone, open WhatsApp, go to Linked devices, tap Link a device, and scan the code. It links the same way WhatsApp Web does, so there is nothing to install.
  2. Choose your chats and groups. One-to-one chats are saved from the moment you connect, and you can keep certain people out. On WhatSync Plus and Pro all your WhatsApp groups are saved too. Turn off any you want kept out, like the family chat.
  3. Add WhatSync in ChatGPT. Click Add to ChatGPT, connect the app, and sign in with the same email you used for the dashboard. Then ask ChatGPT about your WhatsApp. If it does not use WhatSync on its own, start your question with “Use WhatSync to…”.

Tips for better answers

  • Mention who sent it, if you know: "the message from Ravi about the drawings".
  • Add a rough time: last week, in March, before the site visit.
  • Name the group if it was shared in one.
  • For files, say the type: photos, PDFs, invoices, drawings.
  • Ask "show me the messages around it" to see the rest of the conversation.

What it cannot do

Better to know these before you start.

  • Only messages from the moment you connect. Old WhatsApp history is not brought in. If you connect today, ChatGPT can see today onwards, so connect before you need it.
  • Groups are on WhatSync Plus and Pro. The 7-day free trial covers your one-to-one chats, up to 500 messages. See pricing.
  • Voice notes, photos and scanned documents are read on Pro. On every plan ChatGPT reads text messages, links, and PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Without Pro it only knows a photo or voice note by its caption and file name.
  • Read only. ChatGPT can read and search what you connected. It cannot send WhatsApp messages. It can write a reply for you to copy and send yourself.
  • New messages take a minute or two to show up. If something that just arrived is missing, ask again shortly.

Questions

How is this different from WhatsApp search?
WhatsApp search matches exact words. ChatGPT understands the question, so "when is the next payment due?" finds the message that says "please transfer by the 5th". It can also read inside documents, which WhatsApp search does not.
Can it find a photo by what is in it?
On WhatSync Pro, yes. Photos are read for any words in them and a short description of what they show, so "find the photo of the cracked wall" works. Without Pro it finds photos by their caption and who sent them.
Can it read the PDFs and documents people send?
Yes, on every plan. ChatGPT can read and search PDF, Word, Excel and PowerPoint files. Scanned documents, which are really pictures of pages, are read on Pro.
Can it find something from before I connected?
No. WhatSync only saves messages that arrive after you connect. Anything older stays on your phone only.
Can it find voice notes?
On Pro, every voice note is turned into text in any language, so you can search what was said. Without Pro it can only tell you a voice note was sent, and by whom.
